The 1.25 add-on version has been deprecated.

What

This updates any dev cluster defaults to use 1.26 version of istio. It does not impact our int/stage/prod environments as they're currently hardcoded to asm-1-25 for istio.

If a dev does a make entrypoint/Region on their cluster, it will disruptively upgrade the istio version. The impact will be:

  • mTLS may fail between frontend <-> CS and CS <-> maestro
  • istio ingress gateway may return 500 calls instead of properly routing to MISE and frontend

This will happen until the istio.sh step runs.

Why

Istio 1.25 deprecated and can no longer install. Will fix CI.
