Proposed Changes
The goal of this PR is to switch to Typescript with as little functional change as possible.
Of course, Typescript is catching some errors so it may take a little bit.
Once the switch is made to Typescript, I think we may really be able to clean up some code!
This scope of work will kinda assume that IE11 is dead but it'll hopefully be as safe as possible!
