Some notes:

  • Many of the scverse packages like anndata and scanpy keep restricting the minimum python version to only the officially-still-supported python versions. For example, this is currently 3.10
  • Many older versions of packages that were released pre-numpy-2 do not work with Numpy 2 but also do not specify in their dependencies that only Numpy 1 is supported (since at the time of release, numpy 2 did not exist yet). For example, scanpy pre-1.10.2 did not specify numpy<2 but will fail to import with numpy 2
