Welcome to the SDSS Center for Computation! We provide many computing resources including access to the serc partition on
Sherlock, a supercomputer here on campus. Using serc gives you priority access to compute machines within Sherlock. Today
we'll get you started on using high performance computing (HPC) resources in an interactive capacity on Stanford's community computing environment Farmshare, which
allows you to interact with supercomputers on campus as if you were using your own laptop. We're demoing this capacity on Farmshare
because access is open to anyone on campus for coursework or research, but if you would like access to serc's more powerful compute for your PhD research, ask your PI
to add you to their Sherlock group, or reach out to us at sdss-compute@stanford.edu
- Open an interactive session in Farmshare using Open On-Demand
- Create a new notebook in Jupyter Hub
- Clone this GitHub repo into your Farmshare home directory
- Run an example notebook, and save the outcomes
