Minor note that might help: on farm, I had always had problems running the gnu parallel. Even though it was available in $PATH, I had to module load parallel/20220522.

good point! this is the PoC, I'll add parallel as a dep in pixi and run in slurm from a pixi task later, so no deps on anything installed in the machines, nor modules
