meikipop v1.5.0 finally brings local and private ocr out-of-the-box thanks to meikiocr. google lens is still the default ocr provider for now, but feel free to give "meikiocr (local)" via the system tray -> ocr provider menu a try.

some notes:

• if you are on windows and have problems starting the new version try installing vcredist
• if you have any issues with the new version, make sure to let me know by opening an issue
• meikiocr should in most cases be faster than google lens, but accuracy can be worse
• meikiocr was primarily created for high accuracy and low latency in japanese video games and doesn't support vertical text. for other use cases experiences may vary...
• if you have a nvidia gpu there are good news: meikiocr runs blazingly fast on compatible nvidia gpus, however gpu support is not available for the binary releases. run meikipop from source and make sure to "pip uninstall onnxruntime" and to "pip install onnxruntime-gpu" for gpu accelerated ocr
