This looks good @ebolyen, thank you! One request on nomenclature - what do you think about using "Stand-alone" instead of "Additional", e.g., here:

I think "Stand-alone" will be more clear, and it's a term I think I've used in various places to describe non-distro-associated plugins, so I think it will align with language in papers, on the forum, etc. (I would suggest "Distribution-associated" instead of "Distribution" as well, but I'm guessing it's too long of a phrase - but "Distribution-associated" versus "stand-alone" feelings like what we're trying to capture here).

Aside from this, good to go from my perspective - thanks again!

distribution-associated definitely looks too long. What about distro-associated?

I also tried in-distribution and from-distribution, but it felt awkward
