Description

rvc: getstarted : add Realsense2 GMSL camera setup page, incremental to Realsense2 USB camera setup page by #950

  • Add GMSL2 enable product Advantech AFE-R360/ASR-502, Seavo HB03, Axiomtex ROBOX500 ACPI configurations
  • Add librealsense2 D457 support ipu6 GMSL2 knowledge database
  • Add GMSL2 debugging & troubleshooting guidelines.

|ECI| maintains the ``intel-ipu6-dkms`` (branch ``iotg_ipu6``) package, compatible with |Ubuntu22|, and |Ubuntu24| distributions, featured for |Intel| industrial OEM/ODM GMSL AIC product enabling and D457/GMSL camera support. Canonical maintains an identical ``intel-ipu6-dkms`` (branch ``dfsg``) package, compatible with |Ubuntu22| and |Ubuntu24| distribution, featured for |Intel| Client OEM/ODM MIPI camera support. Both packages are mutually exclusive.

Please note that |Intel| Image Processing Unit 6 (IPU6) Input System driver has been contributed to the `kernel.org <https://lwn.net/ml/linux-media/[email protected]/>`_ upstream without initial GMSL2 support.

There is no explanation on how to setup the ECI APT repository. The original source included a fragment. Please add instructions to the RVC documentation Getting Started Guide on how to setup the ECI APT repository.

For example, here is how the Robotics Components resolve this:

- The **GMSL2 Camera modules**, designed by 3rd Party GMSL2 Camera vendors, combine one or more Camera Sensors and a GMSL2 *Serializer* (ex. MAX9295)
- The **Add-in-Card (AIC)**, designed by either ODM/OEMs or 3rd Party GMSL2 Camera vendors, provide multiple GMSL2 *Derializer* (ex. MAX9296A)
- The **|Intel|-based Motherboad**, designed by ODM/OEMs, provide Mobile Industry Processor Interface (MIPI) Camera Serial Interface (CSI) interface exposed by |Intel| Core™ Ultra Series 1 and 2 (Arrow Lake-U/H) and 12th/13th/14th Gen |Intel| Core™ products.

The open-source documentation does not use substitutions such as |Intel|, or |ECI|. These need to be replaced. When referring to the project, OEP should be used, not ECI. It is OK to refer to the ECI APT repository, but ECI in general should not be used.

This file is not used during the build of the documentation for OEP. All substitutions in the documentation should be replaced.
