KITpro OS is a lightweight, user-friendly Linux distribution based on Rocky Linux 9.5. It offers polished desktop environments (MATE and XFCE), pre-installed desktop apps, system-wide theming, and first-boot customization—all geared toward productivity, consistency, and simplicity.

Building an ISO

Step 1: Sync Repos

./sync-rocky-repos.sh

This will sync BaseOS and AppStream content for offline/local usage.

Step 2: Build Dual ISO

./dual-build.sh

This builds a hybrid ISO with both MATE and XFCE included. Output goes to /opt/output/KITproOS-9.5-dual.iso.

Step 3: Build Single ISOs (Optional)

sudo bash scripts/build-kitpro-mate-iso.sh
sudo bash scripts/build-kitpro-xfce-iso.sh
sudo bash scripts/build-kitpro-netinstall.sh

Required Packages

Install on a Rocky Linux 9.x build host:

sudo dnf install lorax genisoimage createrepo_c mkksiso anaconda pykickstart -y

ISO Validation

After building, run the ISO validation script to check structure, boot files, treeinfo, and packages:

./validate_iso.sh

This script will output a log file in your home directory and report any errors found.

Custom Packages

KITpro OS includes the following custom RPMs:

• kitpro-branding: wallpapers, GTK settings, LightDM configs, fastfetch, zsh
• arc-theme: ported and repackaged Arc GTK theme
• mate-menu: GTK3 menu for MATE (modern Brisk Menu fork)

All .spec files and SRPMs can be found under rpmbuild/SPECS/ and rpmbuild/SRPMS/.
