This is just a fixup of #3 in order to try to unlock that, since the PR's author left the review long time ago.
We were using the proposed solution from our own git repository where we merged them but we'd like those changes to be finally published on npmjs, in order to all people to be able to take advantage of them, and in order to set up our repos to fetch the plugin from npmjs since the git fetch mechanism sometimes fails...
