First shot at a MCP subproject website for Solr. I picked a green theme at random to distinguish from the red and lilac we already have, could be any color really. Preliminary content filled by GenAI.

PR includes DOAP file, which can be linked into the master DOAP catalog for ASF and thus make the sub project show up in phonebook, ATR etc.

@adityamparikh see README for this solr-site repo for how to spin up the website based on a git checkout.

@janhoy thanks for moving this forward. Just pairing with @adityamparikh and great to see this starting to happen! Getting closer to a 1.0 that would justify merging this!

Feel free to commit things - whatever really - to this PR branch to bring it closer to what we want the MCP web site to be about.

What is your thoughts on this @epugh and @adityamparikh ?

What should change before merge?

What is a good timing to introduce this page?

Thanks @janhoy for putting this together! We can call it version 1.0.0 and I have apache/solr#4043
that adds comprehensive docs to the solr ref guide that could be reviewed, merged and linked in here?
@epugh when do we publish a GA announcement?

I guess the question is can we publish the new site before solr-mcp is 1.0 or otherwise released? I guess we COULD publish it even through we haven't shipped version 1? Do you have a perspective here @janhoy ?

In my head, we would do the 1.0 release of solr-mcp and at that moment publish the website and the ref guide tutorial... But maybe the site can go up now?

Let's perform the first release first and then announce the project, the website and the release at the same time.
