Model Overview

The goal of this document is to provide the necessary information to understand how to run the ED2 (ED/RAMS) model. The large majority of the documentation on how the model works conceptually is provided elsewhere, most notable David Medvigy's dissertation (Chapter 2) while documentation for the original ED model is provided by the Moorcroft et al. 2001 Ecological Monograph. However, this document does contain a brief summary of the major changes to the model since David Medvigy's dissertation (see Model Changes). Likewise, documentation on the implementation of the ED2 model is provided within the code. Finally, the functioning of the atmospheric models (RAMS, BRAMS,OLAM) are not documented here but is provided by each of those projects.
