The following page represent a brief description of the relations between the different actors of the system from a business perspective and operation process point of view.

As seen in the picture below the main actors are the:

  • Subscriber: tipically the subject that wants to procure an IT service to be deployed on a cloud infrastructure
  • Service provider: the subject that owns a service and is able to sell it to customers and sell the service on it
  • CloudOpting owner: the subject that operates the CloudOpting's catalogue
  • CloudOpting Catalogue: a website based on the CloudOpting platform

Cloudopting relationships

In detail the following image explains the subscribing process where the subscriber select a service in the catalogue, customize it accordingly to the parameters that the service provider designed and than submit the request for the service. The selling process that originate from the subscription is not managed in the catalogue so no "payment" is managed through the CloudOpting platform. That process is managed off-line. When the subscriber has finalized the contract will be than able to command the actual deployment.

The following image describe the deployment process:

As can be seen the service provider will not read the customization from the subscriber thus ensuring that any passwords or information useful to access the customer data will not be available. The roo password for the newly created virtual machine will be generated by the CloudOpting system and sent to the Service provider so that it will be able to do operations and maintenance when needed.

With this approach the CloudOpting system ensure that both the subscriber and the service provider have a proper visibility on the sensitive information of the deployment and no one has the means to access those information. This will help manage the responsability of each actor involved.
