Completed in this pull request:

  • Fix Biomakie.jl logo bug, add logo to /assets
  • Remove Getting Started and Overview buttons below "BioJulia" (it is redundant)
  • Separate biojulia packages into different categories, add badges for each category
  • Add buttons to only show packages that are under a certain category

Note: a lot of the HTML styling was completed with the help of Claude

@jakobnissen Would like another set of eyes on this. I'm inclined to move forward with this so we have something functional and that looks good, but I worry that it will be set once and never updated because of the complexity.

This came from the contributing repo? It would be nice if there were a way to pull that content directly so that changes there would be reflected here. But that's not an issue for this PR

I thought I could turn that checkmark into an issue, but I'll just do it manually...

Quite annoying to have to handle it this way, but kinda nice that it works. Honestly this is the kinda thing that would be better with Franklin :-/

The big problem here is that it's not good for maintainability. Should look into whether it's possible to do this with a feature in Vitepress itself so that the components can be written in markdown or yaml or something...

I know embarrassingly little about how to make web pages, or what constitutes good or bad CSS or HTML. That being said, I do have a vague idea it might be a good idea to stay within the confines of whatever framework you work in.
But maybe this is exactly the sort of thing AI is really, really good at, so maintenance maybe won't be a big issue, if the volume of code remains small?

Yeah, true. So I'll go ahead and merge this for now. Embarrassingly, I now think we should maybe have stuck with the Xranklin site and just modified it with AI the way I did for biojulia.dev/posts 🤦 . But for now I think we'll just forge ahead here.
