How to Set Up and Run MediBot

Follow these instructions to set up and run the MediBot AI locally on your machine.

Prerequisites

• Node.js (v16 or higher)
• npm (v7 or higher)
• Git
• MongoDB
• Firebase console

1️⃣ Clone the Repository

git clone https://github.com/Asvix-04/Medibot-AI.git
cd Medibot-AI

2️⃣ Backend Setup

cd User-Interface/backend

# Install dependencies
npm install

# Configure environment
cp .env.example .env
# Edit .env to include:
# - MONGO_URI
# - FIREBASE_CREDENTIALS (path to firebaseServiceAccount.json)

# Start backend
npm run dev

3️⃣ Frontend Setup

cd ../frontend

# Install dependencies
npm install

# Configure environment
cp .env.example .env
# Add your:
# - Firebase config
# - Google Maps API key

# Start frontend
npm start

Firebase Configuration

1. Go to Firebase Console
2. Create a new project.
3. Enable:
   • Authentication (Email/Password, Google)
   • Firestore database
4. Add Firebase config to frontend/firebase.js
5. Generate a Firebase Service Account key and save it as firebaseServiceAccount.json in the backend.
