There's a fair few tweaks in here to make the course function.

Could also do with the conda section being redone to remove references to Anaconda and trim it back to something usable in teaching and research.

Two real changes here:
 - Change package, as the old breseq package now has build bugs.
 - Change to use /tmp/ for the install target, so it'll work on pretty
   much any machine.
Tweaked the logged paths to reflect what we use on Aire, and adjusted
ARC4 notes to talk of Aire
- Remove references to ARC4 and local customisations.
- Switch to a newer version of Ubuntu to avoid fakeroot issues
- Removed references to ARC
- Adjusted the builds to different versions and fixed dependency issues

- Conda also provides access to widely used machine learning and data science libraries such as TensorFlow, SciPy, NumPy that are available as pre-configured, hardware specific packages (such as GPU-enabled TensorFlow) allowing for code to be as performant as possible

Have read through all prose, and it looks good.

  • Have also tested the steps for some sections, (specifically spack use) and it aligns with the output I got. Build works locally.

Happy to approve, but equally, if someone more HPC-focused than me wants to double check other sections - I might have missed something obvious!

Also agree re conda rewrite needed - but also agree that hould be a separate PR
