Right most icon in system tray is invisible and can't be interacted with

Describe the bug

The right most system tray icon is always invisible. Instead there's always an empty space. You can't interact with it, either. You can move other icons to the right, and that switches out which icon is hidden.

Expected outcome

All system tray icons are displayed correctly

What version of open shell? It should be at 4.4.196.

Did you try restarting file explorer in EP Properties application to see if it fixes it?

Is the taskbar set to locked or unlocked?

Since this is at the bottom, are you using windows 11 taskbar or windows 10 (ExplorerPatcher) taskbar?

I'm indeed using OpenShell 4.4.196. (Might want to update the issue template if that info is helpful)

The issue has persisted across many restarts of both just explorer and Windows in its entirety.

I have the taskbar locked and set to auto hide, but changing either of them doesn't seem to have any influence.

This is EP's Windows 10 taskbar.

Try setting it to show all system tray icons to see if that fixes it. The option is linked to in the EP Properties application.

That removes the spacing, but now the right most icon is hidden entirely.

In this case, the volume icon has disappeared:

in taskbar settings, you can set the volume icon to be shown.

The volume icon is enabled. It just happened to be the right most icon before enabling the setting to show all icons, and therefore it disappeared.
