Definition of a Core

• Services are available and open to all researchers at UAB (can be limited to faculty only).
• Must operate financially on a fee-for-service basis.
• Must adhere to UAB Service Center Regulations https://www.uab.edu/financialaffairs/procedures/service-center-regulations
• Shall not recharge for no-charge RCS services (e.g., 100 TB shared storage allocations).
• May recharge for buy-in RCS services.
• Must be led by UAB staff with director title or higher, who will assume responsibility for all activities on RCS within the shared allocation (owner).

Must be led by faculty supervisor who...

• Is UAB employed
• Has a professor title
• Has ultimate decision-making authority for their group
• Is engaged in funded research through UAB
• Will assume responsibility for all activities on RCS within the shared allocation (owner)
