How to test vertical compaction?

Hi,

I am using two prometheus instances (as HA), which scrapes data from same applications. I have implemented Thanos for long term storage and running thanos-compactor to enable compaction and downsampling features. Now, I am planning to enable vertical compaction and updated compactor configuration as below. Can someone please confirm whether the below configuration is correct? Is there anyway to test and confirm whether the vertical compaction is working fine?

"Enabling Vertical Compaction" section says that "You can enable vertical compaction using the hidden flag --compact.enable-vertical-compaction". However, this flag is not added in "Flags" section. So a bit confused.
