@SebKrantz could you please explain what you achieved with the CSS, what exactly was the spacing you wanted, and why did you make the font smaller?

Thanks @maelle. I have created a version of the {dfms} site with the default settings here you can compare it to the current site. The differences regard spacing of navbar items, spacing of documentation sections, and sections/subheadings in general, placement of the search bar, and, in my latest version adding

also the size of the package logo. Overall, I think the site looks more clean and less crammed that way. Font sizes are, I guess a matter of taste. In general, I was not not suggesting to change the default template, but perhaps there could be a parameter to allow this more generous layout for larger/more complex packages, or people who just don't fancy a "compressed" layout which is the new pkgdown default. Most large packages like data.table and collapse use a more generous layout.

I think the tweaks look good, but it's a matter of taste. Perhaps we could do a poll in the slack?

One reason why the current text might be too large is that the css was trying to compensate for our previous proxima fonts which were usually small. However we switched to the default pkgown fonts a while back.
