Plugin Development Documentation & API Access for Elementor v4

Hello Elementor Team,

I'm a plugin developer currently working with Elementor, and I'm very excited about the upcoming v4 release. I'm reaching out to better understand how we can prepare for and develop plugins compatible with the new version.

My main questions are:

1. API & Documentation Availability

   • Will comprehensive API documentation be available before or at the time of v4's release?
   • If so, what's the expected timeline for documentation availability?

2. Integration with v4 Elements

   • Will developers be able to hook into and extend Elementor v4's core elements?
   • Are there specific extension points or APIs being designed for third-party integration?

3. Plugin Development Guidelines

   • What's the recommended approach for developing v4-compatible plugins?
   • Will there be migration guides for existing plugin developers?

4. Customization & Extensibility

   • Will v4 support external code accessing class managers and custom variables?
   • Are there plans to expose internal APIs for advanced customization?

5. Editor Editability

   • Will the v4 editor maintain or expand the current level of programmatic editability?
   • Are there any limitations developers should be aware of?

I understand you're likely deep in development, but any early guidance would be incredibly valuable for planning our plugin roadmap. Even preliminary information or beta access opportunities would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for showing interest in extending Editor V4! 🙏

At the moment we cannot offer any early documentation, for a simple reason:

We are actively changing pretty much everything. Releasing any documentation or API now would literally break when we reach Beta status. Not to mention, we would be trading real work on the new Editor with outdated documentation, which ultimately would be a waste of valuable work.

So, for the time being, we cannot offer any documentation, guideline, or API for extending, and integrating with Editor V4.

Rest assured, we will be working on it once we have locked-in all components, and are ready for Beta testing. Don't worry, you will have plenty of time to integrate with or extend Editor V4! 😉

Keep an eye here in this channel, in the Developers Blog, and make sure to subscribe to our Developers Newsletter. We will use these channels to communicate updates about Editor V4.

Expect it after 4.0 release or later.
