I had never heard of the other two but now had a quick look. Serena is simple to describe - it provides an LLM with smarter tools for navigating and editing code. Any prompts that we have are just descriptions to help the LLM understand the provided tools. Our tools are better than those of most agents because they use semantic properties of code in a smart way. Now the other two go in the direction of prompting, templating, multi-agent orchestration frameworks. They have very little to do with serena, and I have no experience using them together. My general recommendation is to not overcomplicate things and only use a technology if it actually solves some problem that you have. For us, Serena solved the problem that basic file reading and searching tools are simply not good enough for complex projects, and that string replacement tools for editing are expensive in terms of output tokens (whereas most our editing tools are much cheaper) |
