Description
Consider this a lower priority item compared to the Reuse page.
At some point we may want to make proposals on how contributors can gain academic credit for their effort. Authors can publish large contributions on brief research reports or research letters (example PMID 25164526). Relevant guidance for citing content at GitHub itself may come from:
- Patrinos GP et al. Microattribution and nanopublication as means to incentivize the placement of human genome variation data into the public domain. Human Mut 2012. PMID 22736453
- Nanopuplications at http://www.w3.org/wiki/images/4/4a/HCLS$$ISWC2009$$Workshop$Mons.pdf
- http://nanopub.org
Wikigenes has an interesting approach:
For openMetaAnalysis, users could simply link in their CV to their user page, or link to the branch histories.
- Doe, J. Hypertonic saline for bronchiolitis: a living systematic review. Contributions archived at https://github.com/openMetaAnalysis/Hypertonic-Saline-for-Bronchiolitis/commits/gh-pages/ and https://github.com/openMetaAnalysis/Hypertonic-Saline-for-Bronchiolitis/commits/master/
- or -
- Doe, J. Hypertonic saline for bronchiolitis: a living systematic review. Contributions archived at https://github.com/doej
Authors should consider summarizing their edit at http://wikidoc.org and can then cite that entry in the page history at wikidoc. For example:
Edit by badgettrg at WikiDoc contributors. Bronchiolitis medical therapy. WikiDoc. Nov 9, 2014. Available at: http://www.wikidoc.org/index.php/Bronchiolitis_medical_therapy#Hypertonic_saline. Accessed November 9, 2014. Edit isolated in page history: http://www.wikidoc.org/index.php?title=Bronchiolitis_medical_therapy&diff=1047854&oldid=1040638
Let me know if/when you want me to mock up a page for this.
