The lgi package has not been seriously updated in ages. In my opinion, if you replace the word lgi for LuaGObject everywhere on your code, the fork (https://github.com/vtrlx/LuaGObject) is a much better alternative. I think users should migrate to LuaGObject instead.

LuaGObject is being regularly updated to address changes in the Gtk stack, and it is also supporting Lua 5.5.
