What happened?
GitHub Copilot Chat never loads and shows:
"Chat took too long to get ready. Please ensure you are signed in to GitHub and that the extension GitHub.copilot-chat is installed and enabled."
Environment
- OS: Windows 11
- VS Code: Latest Stable
- GitHub Copilot extension: Installed
- GitHub Copilot Chat extension: Installed
- Copilot subscription: Active (Student/Trial/Paid)
- Network: India
What I tried
- Signed out and signed back into GitHub
- Reinstalled Copilot and Copilot Chat extensions
- Disabled chat.extensionUnification.enabled
- Developer reload window
- Tried different network (hotspot)
Expected behavior
Copilot Chat should load and respond normally.
Actual behavior
Chat UI loads but responses never come.
