Local install option

Hello. I'd love if we could add install instructions for running opencode-skills locally, without having opencode install it via the package name.

This has a couple advantages:

1. It makes it easier for folks to hack on. Currently folks would need to publish their own packages, where-as being able to do it locally would be lower encumberance.
2. Its safer. We'd only be running code that we are familiar with!

It should not be that hard to do:

Please see https://opencode.ai/docs/plugins/ in theory all you have to do is to get index.ts file to .opencode/plugin (make sure to rename the file to the name of the plugin that you want to register).

Then ensure .opencode/package.json has all the dependencies from this repo's package.json

I tried symlinking index.ts to ~/.config/opencode/plugins/skills.ts.

When I run now I get this error:

Whats weird is that I've done a ton of debugging, and it sure seems like SkillsPlugin runs to end and is about to return results. Even though the stack trace above seems to show index.ts failing, the tools that is returned at the very end of SkillsPlugin looks fine, from what I can tell. JSON.stringify of it:

If I follow the actual install instructions, the same skill works and runs fine. But then I can't do any development or experimentation with the plugin (I'm also interested in trying to add args).

Ok, finally found what the issue is.

OpenCode is iterating through all the exports in the file, and trying to treat each one as a plugin. It fails because there are a bunch of other exports in index.ts that it tries to run if you symlink or copy index.ts into ~/.config/opencode/plugin/skills.ts.

Workarounds:

• Commenting out the other exports works.
• Created a very short skills.ts to point to opencode-skills. Only content is: export { SkillsPlugin } from "/opt/opencode-skills-git".

I have to say this was super hard to debug everything.

• console.log wasn't working in the skills.ts
• but I could throw to have the process end but at least log
• finally validated that SkillPlugin seemed to run ok, that problem was seemingly opencode
• to debug opencode I was launching a checkout via bun run --cwd /opt/opencode-git dev $(pwd).
• almost broke out the debugger on opencode but got by with adding some log.info there.
• saw opencode trying to run all exports, not just SkillPlugin.
• logs would show up in ~/.local/share/opencode/log/dev.log.
