Why are ESC/POS printing commands needed?

Hi,

Most modern ESC/POS printers can print PDFs directly. Could someone explain why sending raw ESC/POS commands is still necessary?

to use pdf, you need a library to generate it, then send it to the printer.
it's far more efficient to formate it directly into ESC/POS and send code :

• less code
• less ressources used
• faster
• less depedant of other system (how the OS manage PDF for example), so less problems and debug
