what do you want to modify exactly? since this is highly dynamic, you'd have to adjust the settings in /etc/ebusd/mqtt-hassio.cfg to achieve the desired changes |

@andrejs2 sorry for off topic, but would you mind sharing your HA configs? Seems that ive been trying to create a similar thing as you and it does partially work, but had some problems which i cannot fix (like with input selects for modes). Surely the whole community would greatly benefit from each others configs. |

Thanks. That's very interesting because you took a very similar approach to input_selects as myself, but while my input_numbers work perfectly fine, input_selects often glitch (for example changing the mode in HA doesnt change the mode on the boiler controls or other way around - changing mode on boiler controls quickly resets it back to the value set in HA). Will need to look into that again. A couple of questions:

Thanks @john30 for the feedback and all the work you put into this project, I think this upgrade is really opening another new level. There are number od options to change (switch (on-off), select,...I use them to select desired room temp, heating curve, backup mode, storage load, heating circuit mode (auto, off, on...).

ah, you mean writable values. yes, those are supported as well and if you change the mqtt-hassio.cfg line 114 to "filter-direction = r|u|^w", then write messages are included - by default they are not, as this really opens up a lot stuff that can be done wrong by a simple click on HA UI. You don't need to change the file itself, instead you can also pass another ebusd start parameter overriding the line like this: |

Thanks @john30, MQTT autodiscovery works really well out the box and makes managing entities much easier. I have updated the HA add-on to configure this automatically so people have a one click solution to get eBUSd data into Home Assistant. A couple of observations:

guess the right thing to do would be to set the field name to onoff as well in the inc:43. then it will be picked up by the hassio cfg. if you don't want to change that, then matching it by message name is the right thing to do from my perspective. |

Ok i try and install addon EBUSD EDGE and it works better and looks ok. But still some sensors i have with status UNKNOW. But when by automation i send command example ebusd/700/prfuelsumhc/get it update and now sensors show value. But why when user auto discovery and found this sensor no update automaticallly it as other whis auto update value ? |

I experience the same issue. And today I had some time to collect more info on it. Log in ebusd shows 20.975 degrees: MQTT explorer value shows 20 degrees: And Home Assistant (obviously also shows 20 degrees): And if you look at the history, you see very clearly when I've upgraded to the new sensors: Any idea what is causing this? I have the feeling that the raw data from ebusd is somehow rounded (without logical rounding rules in place....). |

I thought that I was using 2.22 already (since this was indicated in the add-on in HA). But in MQTT I noticed it was 22.1. So I've rebuild the HA add-on and now it's solved. Thanks! |

Hi. I have a problem… I use EBUSD EDGE and use mqttvar: filter-name=status|temp|fuel|count|energy|power|runtime|hours|starts|mode|curve|^load$|^party$|cooling|heat|sensor|data|error|pressure|flame then i have sensors by auto discovery. He found me what i need.

It resulted in two devices being registered: ebusd. ebusd.eu . Heating. MQTT No other devices were found. Six entities associated with the above devices appeared. Also when accessing the HassIO commandline (with Putty), I could not find the /etc/ebusd directory? |

I too need to control one parameter on my Vaillant boiler so I understand I have to change mqtt-hassio.cfg to allow writes to the ebus. As a non Linux person who is running ebusd as an add-on in Home Assistant under HASSOS, I don't know where to find the correct etc directory from a SSH session. If there's anyone patient out there, please could you advise how to change to filter-direction = r|u|^w . I assume that I will then be able to use MQTT set calls to change the value I want (which is the flowtempdesired |

@Seliaks65 Sorry for my typo in previous response it is correct You can play with that filters or if you will have csv files localy you can use priority to filter out all unwanted values. In csv you set all requested values to prio 1 - 8 and unwanted to prio 9, then you set |

@Koky05 Thanks for all your help. I had a bit of a job downloading the config csv files and getting them to work with the add-on, but all is working OK now. For editing the priorities in the csv files, can I use Studio Code Server, or is File Editor add-on the better option, and why? Also, although I have a VRC720 Sensocomfort controller, the scanconfig is allocating 15.basv which appears to be for the VRC700 - can I force the system to use 15.ctlv2 instead? Thanks, Tom |

@Seliaks65 I personaly preffer Studio Code. You can do a lot more stuff with it and with extensions it is limitless tool. But if your environment are poor in resources then File editor is better way. |

@Seliaks65 If you look into 15.basv.csv you will find that is only linkt to 15.700.csv. So if you want different csv load just change it. Don't forget to restart eBUSd, because only on start are csv's loaded. |

I'm back with another issue. Everything is working fine. Got all setup and can write/read, poll etc. CSV Config for Brink Renovenet Sky 300/Excellent: MQTT ebusd I have tried to rename the entities name in the CSV, give it another data type, another type. It's always the same. P.S. this is a ventilation system, no HVAC/Heat Pump. |

More effect will have filter-field. Direction just show and allow writable values, but it also depend on access-level. So in your case try to comment out filter-field by adding hash sign (#) at the beggining of the line. |

Did also not work. In the ebusd log I see that the messages get published and I can receive them in my mqtt explorer. Is there any log file where I could see which messages are filtered and why no entities are created ? |

You need to create it by yourself with using of existing sensors or MQTT path. But I prefer MQTT Thermostat because it also supports modes change MQTT HVAC |

I use couple of ebus devic integration. One is direct MQTT Climate and second is HA Autodiscovery. If you setup correctly device part it can join it into one and you can see all attributes in one device.

in theory it also let's you control VR 50 ambiSENSE TRVs of which I have over 14 (why have the Id*ots at Vaillant discontinued this product????) so I plan to add that to my ebusd data in HA! |

I think that's the Home Assistant built in ebusd integration documentation you're referring to. I ended up using the ebusd add-on, which is a bit easier to set up I think - although still a bit difficult to get your head round - but with help from people on this thread, I've saved and edited the config files locally to miss out all the entities in not interested in, as I had hundreds of entities at first. If you're already running the ebusd add-on you don't need to load the ebusd integration in Home Assistant, and can delete it. |

Hi, i am using a Rasberry Pi with HAOS: Installed via Raspberry Pi Imager Home Assistant My eBUSd is the 'LukasGrebe' ebusd add-on, currently version 24.1.1 My eBus- Devices are: Vaillant ecoTEC plus VCW20/26 CS/1-5 (eBUS Adresse 08) sensoComfort VRC720/2 (eBUS Adresse 15) I can see all with TCP 'info': I have cut my Files down to the values i need, I have put some '# ' infront of the lines. I can see within HA, that all values are coming: I use MQTT-Explorer. But: Not all values are displayed as required in the HA under the MQTT integration. Some do not appear there, some cannot be written there. MQTT-Explorer: MQTT-Integration ctlv2: First: Later i want to try to see and change e.g. I think this has something to do with my Can somebody please sort this out please? This discussion helps me a lot to understand the leading text in mqtt-hassio.cfg! I am a graduated engineer for communications engineering, so i try to understand message-flows and their configuration as a natural habit.
I understand this, but i configured my csv/inc-Files to get only a few things. So as an example let's assume there are only three sensors in ctlv2: How do i then do things within mqtt_hassio.cfg? Probably somthing with {if} %name = z1QuickVetoDuration {then} %min=0,5 %max=12, %step=0,5 Or am I wrong ? |

Hi all I just bought and received a Stick C6 and I'm staring to understand how to connect to MQTT and HA. I am on fw 20260118 For the Home assistant connection, I don't understand if I'm doing right This is my configuration but I don't know where to look at in HA, can someone just guide me where can I find it?

I started using Home Assistant (aka "HA" or "hassio") a while ago and was pretty impressed by its features and huge number of integrations. So I wanted to have all the data grabbed from my heating to be available on my HA instance as well :-)
As the available data in ebusd is highly dependant on the actual circuits on the bus, this had to be done in a very dynamic fashion and luckily HA supports a feature called MQTT discovery. This allows any MQTT capable thing to announce semantics of the data sent though MQTT itself - really cool.
Support for this is now implemented in ebusd using a little template engine which is activated by using "--mqttint=/etc/ebusd/mqtt-hassio.cfg --mqttjson" as additional arguments to ebusd. See the details described here as well.
At the end, it looks like this in HA lovelace for one of the entities:
And the list of entities is huge - this is just the list of devices each one having a lot of entities in it:
All entities belong to logical devices within HA, here is an example one:
How is this activated? Simply by enabling MQTT for ebusd and making it use the integration configuration file, e.g. like this:
ebusd ... --mqtthost my-mqtt-host --mqttport 1883 --mqttint=/etc/ebusd/mqtt-hassio.cfg --mqttjsonThat's it, the magic starts automatically when looking at HA later on.
