Description
Hello everyone,
First of all, thank you so much for your amazing work, it’s incredible to see an Open Source solution for 3D audio emerging like this, you guys are awesome!
I’m writing this post because I’ve been using the Eclipsa plugins for discrete conversion (7.1.4) from an Atmos downmix, but I wanted to share my perspective on what would really help this technology take off.
Unfortunately, since Atmos has been around for more than 10 years, it has become the professional standard in music studios and cinema mixing auditoriums. The technical investment is so high that it’s not likely to change anytime soon at that level.
I know I’m not telling you anything new when I say that Atmos in a DAW like Pro Tools directly relies on the integrated panning tools. When you export an ADM from an Atmos mix and reopen it in a new session, those same panning tools are used for the movement of the “objects.” The big issue with the Eclipsa plugins is that you can’t retrieve these automation curves to integrate them into the plugin. That’s why I believe that almost everyone will end up using it to convert discrete channels (7.1.4), but the vector aspect of the objects created in Atmos will be lost.
Is it really impossible to allow copying or converting these automations directly into the plugin?
One more small question: why isn’t the 9.1.6 format available in the plugin?
Thanks so much for taking the time to read!
