Remove a complete chat history with 'clear chat'

When I use eca-restart it sometimes:

• starts chat in broken state (like 10% cases),
• it takes some time
• i often forgot to switch model to the one I've been using or disable any tools.

So having a function that will keep the chat window and setting while removing the history, would be very nice.

I don't think that the current eca-chat-clear behavior is very useful. But if there is a reason to keep it, we can:
a) prompt the user if he wants to hide/remove history.
b) create a new function eca-chat-purge (related to Emacs but I guess other editors have this functionality as well).

I'm not aware of that and I use restart lots of times, can you elaborate?

We will use the last setted, isn't that expected?

I'd prefer to not touch this as restart cleans and restart everything which is good, doing workarounds or adding ifs to not clear specific things would make it more complex

Almost sure this is you using the JVM version, the native one should be really fast.

Maybe. But it still restarts everything (tools, my flowstorm etc.).

I don't know how to reproduce it. In both cases - eca-chat-new is the solution.

Not here:

1. I set a model to B
2. Do eca-restart
3. Click on eca buffer and model is reset (together with disabled tools) to the default one.

And i noticed that stderr buffer change as well.

AFAICS yes, all clients can close a chat, which removes the history, or clear visually right?

the point is that eca-restart is supposed to restart the process, which includes reseting its stderr buffer and chats, I don't see why that is a problem, besides that, we still need to fix #115 yes, but I don't see what's the issue here

Maybe I am missing something here. So this is what happened today:

1. I wanted to have a very large context window, so I selected a model and disabled some MCPs/Tools manually.
2. When my context got full I wanted to start again without me having to configure model and enabled tools again.
3. So I called eca-chat-new.
   then I called eca-stop on the first chat which closed the second one as well (surprising but not related, altought eca-workspace-stop or similar might be better name to make consequences clear.).

If i could just clear the chat I could continue without doing anything extra. And I don't see a way how to do it right now.
It’s mainly about convenience. Just like you can close and open other coding agents, in the end, you're just glad the /clear command is there :-)

Don't we have everything needed in place? /compact can already delete the history, so /clear (in case you don't want to change behavior of eca-chat-clear) could do the same with no compacting? :-)

I would like to work on this, I really miss it and it can get very annoying if you are used to clear context quite often.

Would you agree that it would be best to improve current clear behavior so we are consistent with other coding agents?

But if I remember, there was something that makes it more difficult than it seems, right?
