DROID 6.9.3 returning incorrect results

I am finding DROID returns the incorrect result occasionally and seems to return a hit to a pattern too early. I have a set of TIFF images which under DROID 6.8.0 all identify as fmt/353, but under 6.9.3 a few of them return a positive identification for fmt/202. In looking at the signature for the Nikon format, there is no pattern which completely matches my samples, only partially.

The change between 6.8.0 and 6.9.3 that's causing the difference is b81e83c

That commit was trying to fix this issue. #1140

I need to have a proper dig through this and find a way to change it so that I don't re-introduce the bug in #1140 but we don't get early results with this one.
