Description
Is there an existing issue for this?
- I checked and did not find my issue in the already reported ones
Describe the bug
I use both linux and win11. The win11 is mainly for testing gimp/darktable. Using windows-gimp, darktable is called to open raw files, and in my case, nef files. Darktable has no issue opening the files and exporting them to windows-gimp. Windows-gimp cannot find the exported file (I'm not reporting on that issue because in windows, I find the exported exr file in my home directory) but I can open it manually. Gimp-3.2 rc2 is very slow to open the exr image... taking approximately 40 seconds.
I've noticed that windows-gimp uses openexr-3.4, and windows-darktable uses openexr-3.3.
If I use linux-gimp to open the exr file exported by windows-darktable, linux-gimp runs like it is windows-gimp, meaning very slowly. If I use windows-gimp to open an exr file exported by linux-darktable (I'm using openexr-3.4 in linux) the the file opens quickly enough.
I suspect if your Windows build of darktable would use openexr-3.4, the file loading problem would go away. I believe there was a problem in the openexr-3.3 code that was making the slow problem in linux-gimp, and when openexr was updated to 3.4 the slowness issue vanished.
Steps to reproduce
- Open windows-gimp and open a RAW file. Gimp passes the file (exr in this case) to windows-darktable, and windows-darktable passes the file back to windows-gimp.
- Windows-gimp takes a long time (40 or more seconds) to open the exr file.
- I suspect that the problem is related to openexr-3.3 in windows-darktable.
