Description
It would be cool if the Skypro reporting could summarise our Carbon impact.
This can be done in a naive way where the average grid carbon intensity is multiplied by charge/discharge volumes and differenced.
A more nuanced way might be to say that, because we are NIV chasing, and running on imbalance, we are responding in real time to balancing actions taken by NGESO. So we might want to use the average carbon intensity of the grid balancing actions only, rather than the national average for generation. This is more likely to be displacing gas, or preventing wind from being curtailed. Actions and carbon-intesity would be direction specific.
It may make sense to split the reported battery behaviour into two main modes of operation:
- DUoS red discharges - here we could use the national average grid carbon intensity as we are doing the same thing every day for the DUoS red payment?
- NIV chasing at all other times using the balancing action carbon intesity
