A system like this has to work across MacOS, Linux and Windows in order to be maximally accessible. The rate of growth for agentic systems will be exponential which will provide unprecedented leverage. Therefore, we cannot exclude a massive OS user base. I know that the rust-based Tauri framework allows for deployment across the three major desktop OS and mobile. |

I used used Goose on my Ubuntu server in conjunction with Windsurf to create a native Windows Powershell version of GooseAI. No hang-ups so far. Goose has mixed up searching for files a couple times still using the Linux file system for searches but he is catching on quick no issue. So it can be done |

I use windows with wsl2, all my code is on linux ubuntu 2204 as much as i can, though vscode is windows installation, the code is on linux. I prefer bash over powershell ... |

The fact they built it so the ui, not even the actual backend relies on very specific mac silicone compatible libraries means if you want goose on any x86 hardware it's going to be all cli in linux. I dont think they will manage to port to windows without professional help because no professional dev on the planet would build a Mac proprietary open source program when they can use something like react thats just cross compatible with literally every device we ever use. It shows massive lack of foresight |

I know it feels that way, but you have to understand that we build this as an internal tool first and we use apple silicone here. That said - you haven't actually looked through the code, did you? It's an electron app using react. |

Goose for windows would really open the door for accessing desktop software via MCP that exists outside of the developer space. The WSL/Windows boundary problem is painful. That not something I want to deal if I am trying to use MCP to expose an existing piece of software to an LLM. |

I'd honestly prefer a Linux desktop version first. You can run that just fine on Windows in WSL & command line tools are geared toward developers anyways. Plus, LLMs tend to play nicer in a Linux context than in a Windows context. |
