Description

Attending Hackathon

would like to attend but need funding

Could consider applying for OBF diversity fellowships, look for others as well if possible. Needs to be done soon

Topics

  • BioJS edu / docs updates
  • Consider creating infrastructure to build all biojs files (many are unbuilt and need to be pre-bundled to be used on biojs.io)
  • investigate load balancing across aussie and german server.
  • Galaxy integration: elaborated below.

Galaxy: Describe a biojs component with metadata so galaxy can easily natively support biojs vis.
- describe input and output formats.
- installable offline (or at least allow 'offline friendly' to be marked)
- galaxy is good at making data in the shapes that the displayers may need...

Consider current workflow:

  1. at hackathon, prototype 1-2 tools to mark up appropriately for import to galaxy
  2. use this to define standards
  3. gold star "approved" repos that meet these requirements -> becomes incentives to implement the standard.

Rowland suggested also maybe pick solutions (found in galaxy) that exist and work to make biojs comply with that.

  • ask community - which tools would you like to see integrated with Galaxy?
    • Poll for top 10 with community?
    • @bgruening to:
      • share list of existing tools that work with galaxy & how.
      • create github issue with target "top 10" list of components + @rowlandm possibly to add more.
  • biojs community survey - create to see what user demands are + create archetype/personas of users. @yochannah to follow up.
  • annotate biojs components as prototype or prod
