variations in the letter 'a'

Please take a look at this example:

the roman 'a' and the italic 'a' have different shapes
would you consider using the same shape for both roman and italic?
the 'footers' for the 't' and 'i' are good as the italic glyph does not cause a character substitution
but the substitution for roman/italic 'a' causes you to think: is that the right way to do this?
