NWB NDX Pose EP #33
Description
EMBER should lead the integration of ndx-pose into the core NWB standard. Given your engagement with data generators, tool developers, and data consumers in the pose estimation and standards space, we think this is a great fit for your team. The integration will be a huge benefit to the community.
Here are the instructions for creating an official NWB Enhancement Proposal: https://github.com/nwb-extensions/nwbep-review/. Basically, follow the NWBEP template and submit it for review in that repo.
As the lead for NWBEP001 and a member of the NWB Technical Advisory Board that manages this process, I'm happy to guide you through it. As the developer of ndx-pose, I'll also contribute to the proposal itself regarding the rationale and proposed implementation.
It would be great if your team could contribute:
• Example datasets
• Use cases and integrations
• Discussion topics
• Suggestions for working group members
We'd also ask your team to lead the proposal presentation to the TAB and working group. I'd be happy to meet with you or whoever will take the lead on your side to coordinate. There's no rush, but the Technical Advisory Board would like to see this submitted by summer so that it can be reviewed and integrated this year.
As we discussed, this NWBEP would also be a great starting point for a joint paper on creating a pose estimation output standard, either before or after integration into NWB.
