Linux : Very loud background noise when using AS3 Microphone

Hello,

I’m getting very loud background noise when capturing audio with the AS3 Microphone API on Linux.
The same microphone works normally in others Ubuntu 24.04 applications and the issue does not occur on Windows or macOS.

Observed :
Strong constant hiss/white noise
Microphone hardware is clean and tested

Is this a known limitation of the Linux audio backend in AIR, or is there a recommended workaround to get clean microphone input?

Can you elaborate on what you are doing? Are you encoding the microphone recording to an audio format?

I read directly the PCM 44 Khz using Sound class but I have a very loud background noise, I don't have this behavior using the same microphone on Windows.

I created a little ANE here that use PulseAudio (or PipeWire now) for testing and I don't have the loud background noise.

Thanks - I'm not sure what the issue may be here but will ask one of my colleagues to investigate further. FYI I believe we use PulseAudio to capture the sound..
