Well, I was just trying to manually update a mod, and have Steam stop failing to download/update it all the time (Win7 sigh), but I might have some relevant info for you. It's quite annoying that searching seems to imply the UGC IDs are what's in the mod link, but I don't think so Tim. For example sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2081254154 identifies the mod with An ID, but that is not its UGC ID, and doesn't change with version.. I can see in SteamApps\Workshop my .acf for the game in question lists installed mods and their UGC IDs, which are not the same number. The number it primarily identifies the mod as in the .acf matches the link, however the UGC is specifically listed separately and is different to the link. If you had a vintage .acf file available, you would have some previous UGC IDs I think, if that's of any help. I hit show source on a current mod page on Steam, and searched for UGC, and I notice there are a bunch of them. ASSUMING that one of those UGCs is specific to the mod, like maybe the primary image it shows you if you inspect that and note the ugc, you could wayback machine old versions. I know you specifically asked "via Steam's API" however I don't have anything to do with that sadly, and could only maybe inspire a workaround. Good luck! :) |

I'm assuming the UGC IDs are basically manifest IDs for The Workshop. Does anyone know of a way to obtain previous UGC IDs of a Workshop item via Steam's API? While googling how to download previous versions of a Workshop mod all I've found are claims that Steam doesn't keep them archived, but I know for a fact this is incorrect as I'm able to easily download outdated versions of my own mod from the changelog page.
