Simplification in the MD kernel

Similarly to what was done in PR #301, the MD kernel could be simplified by using const arrays in the moduleGapSize and simplifying the isTighterTiltedModule logic. Even better, the possibility of using the same function for both cases (MD+LS) should be explored.
