Merge and simplify pT3 and pT5 related kernels #263

While reviewing PR #259, it was noticed that a lot of repetition exists between the pT3 and pT5 related kernels. To avoid code duplication, which is generally bug-prove, we could consider merging and simplifying the common parts of the code into functions to be used by both sets of kernels.
