Metallic option gone

The metallic option has disappeared from my plugin. I double checked and the .so file is properly placed in plugins directory. This is happening on GIMP 2.10

What happens when you run the filter? Does it filter (lb:metallic) run but not work proper?

There was a bug that was recently fixed where the "liquidify metal" slider would make everything on screen turn black

Are you saying the plugin does not shpw up in the dropdown list

The latest version of metallic works on 2.10 flatpak for me on Fedora 40

I have looked closer at the situation and it appears to be a linux problem. The Mint Software Manager was offering 2.10 as a regular install and 2.10.38 as a flatpak. While flatpak was installed my filter worked fine, but now the flatpak has auto upgraded itself from 2.10.38 to 3.0.0. I hunted the net for a 2.10.38 linux installer but could not find one. I did however find that the 2.10.38 installer was still present on one of my win10 machines and I confirmed that 2.10.38 is the installed version. So I can still use the plugin on the win10 machine, but no longer on linux.

I had posted some time ago about turning the gimp icon into a glass icon to match a certain icon pack I use. Some amazing user provided a custom glass setting in a plugin for me, but it no longer seems to exist on my linux GIMP. I hunted the net to try to find the forum that the user had made this gift available, but I cannot find it in my history. By any chance had that been you that coded the glass plugin effect?

That was me that asked for the glass effect, you even have the GIMP logo in your example picture which is exactly what I was trying to convert to glass at the time. My search is over!

Thank you tremendously for getting back to me so quickly with the link. The glass.dll was NOT in my windows plugins, I just added it and the Glass option appeared immediately in my win10 GIMP 2.10.38 :)

What I will do now, is take advantage of having the windows 2.10.38 installer backed up on my win desktop. I will transfer it over to Linux, and install it via WINE and apply your plugin. I believe that should give me function on linux again.

Have you any interest in making versions of this and your metal effect for the new GIMP v3.0.0?

These plugins work on both 2.10 and 3.0

They don't work on the GIMP 3 appimage but that is a problem with GIMP's appimage not GIMP 3. In GIMP 3 they are non-destructive.

Cool, I used flatpak thru software installer not the appimage. I will place the files in 3.0.0's directories and test it

These plugins work on both 2.10 and 3.0

I just added the Glass .so file to /home/(USERNAME)/.local/share/gegl-0.4/plug-ins and opened the original gimp png in v3.0.0 The glass option was there and worked perfectly thank you, this eliminates the need for a v2.10.38 entirely :)
