Description
The Nücomer C64 disk-zine needs some SID music -- I can't music to save my life, I am tone-deaf and utterly incapable of composing songs -- ergo I must beg for help 🙏
I do have a clear design direction for the magazine, so I know what it is I'm trying to capture with music:
The overarching theme is "PSX Menu Music".
What does that mean? It means jazz-fusion; it means "lounge-music", it means experimental industrial percussion; it means '90s demo-disc euro-beat; it means smooth "nu-wave" electro-synth; it means "RIIIIIIIIIDGE RACER"; it means days when you had played enough of a game you just left the PlayStation running on the title screen to listen to the sweet soundtrack and intro FMV in a loop. But most of all, it means [usually short] background music that is always welcome, can repeat for an hour on end and not get tiring.
Here's a list of direct influences on the inspiration I'm looking for:
Gran Turismo 1 & 2's jazz-inspired menu music:

Gran Turismo 1 Menu Soundtrack - Home [EUR/USA]
Colin McRae Rally 2.0's cool industrial minimalism:

Ridge Racer Type 4; easily one of the best soundtracks for any game, ever

Need For Speed... Metal Gear Solid... the number of outstanding PSX titles with outstanding menu music could easily reach 100 titles.
Somehow, I need some, very, very generous composers to distil this vast panoply of sound into SID music suitable for the C64.
The Specs
- Standard ".SID" files such as would be on HVSC; I want the flexibility to allow multiple people to contribute music, without being tied to a specific player
- Start address is $1000 (as 90% of SIDs use)
- Size limit is 12 KB
