ChromVar installation - Apple silicon - R4.4.1

I get the following error when installing chromVAR on a Mac with Apple silicon (M3) running R4.4.1:

BiocManager::install("chromVAR")

Error: package or namespace load failed for ‘chromVAR’ in library.dynam(lib, package, package.lib):
 shared object ‘chromVAR.so’ not found

I have not seen this error described elsewhere - any suggestions?
