Meeting Notes

KM introduced the session for today and a summary of the recent resources shared in Discord.

WF shares a few welcome words:

feedback is invaluable as we as a community strive to create a space that truly supports and enhances the developer relations practice. Whether it's through suggestions, constructive criticism, or new ideas, we are here to listen and adapt. We are here to listen and adapt

Open forum starts

• Feedback: Making sure a broad umbrella of developer relations feels welcome in this foundation. Hope this foundation doesn’t get too narrowed and promotes inclusive space

  • Not just looking for validation, but looking for new voices to share new perspectives.

• Feedback: Industry verticals / certain segments on DevRel perception: What are the core frameworks, what are the core values of each of these industries
  Referenced the tracking metrics area in teh challenges md doc that mentioned this topic from a metrics standpoint

• Highlight the need to define what metrics mean from a devrel standpoint
  Love the varied focus on metrics + storytelling + value props (and more)

• There are certain terminologies in the foundations that need to be explained to new folks new to open source foundations / Linux foundation community structure. For instance, What is a Steering Committee? / Interim Steering committee? / Special Interest Groups? / Working Groups? / etc Is it inclusive across geographical areas?

  • We might need a foundation glossary
  • Story in CNCF. They developed a child book based on the charter

Feedback: A timeline of actions would be helpful
Openly asked if this is something that the Interim SC should take care of. (set up a timeline of phases)
Thumbs up and agreement. People on the call express the need of direction, and these timelines would keep the people on track and focused

• Feedback: Would you like to share how you are looking for us to get more involved if we want to?
  The survey shared is the starting point for understanding where people would like to help and how

• WF shares some thoughts on the phase's ideas to help get a balance between open-ended vs to-do lists. The proposal of have the foundation to act as a Facilitator, defining a set of phases - sharing the things aimed to tackle and gathering input from those things that are missing - and afterward finding people across the community willing to lead / champion those areas and run those.
