STEP 1: Everyone adds questions independently (please add topics below)

• What is the impetus for the formation of this?
• What problem is trying to be solved?
• How are we delineating between the different disciplines of DevRel and DevMarketing?
• Why did the LF think this was something they wanted to get behind?
• What is the long-term vision from those that kicked off this initiative before it became an LF project/community?
• What value will be given to the DevRel community?
• Why are we seemingly recreating the wheel when we have a lot of resources and efforts already in play?
• The Discord is already growing quickly, and seems to be above a tipping point of being able to be managed at such an early stage. How are invites being sent out, and is there any rhyme or reason to the purpose?

The vote done during the call is not a final vote, as we need more people to chime in and vote too. However, this serves as a reflection

Additional notes:

James M: a few takeaways I saw from past call comments:

• devrel means many things, there are communities out there doing work (building, ecosystems, etc)

• The word foundation has different meanings to different people

• Come up as a group with a:

  • Having a clear mission statement
  • Here are the 2-3 things we are aiming to do

• Jeremy M: The definition of devrel is too much to start thinking at this point. There are other things to figure out in the building of this initiative

• KM: any thoughts on collaboration with existing communities

• JM: existing activities have been happening over the years (e.g github repo on how to contribute to devrel / devrel collective) - are we re-creating the wheel? How can we make sure

• KM: maybe there should be a 7th category on questions? DevRel vs DevMarketing

• PL: maybe there should be a question to be asked and capture on DevRel vs. DevMarketing

• SK: How would I know there are all these resources out there? I’m looking into resources, putting devrel as an umbrella and some sort of support. However, don’t know where to I go. IMHO, a foundation (association should be a neutral space, that includes everyone, adn gathers a list of existing resources, references and with the right acknowledgment and people to connect)

• KM: as new curiosities comes by folks here and outside (those who didn’t join today’s call) they are welcome to add those in the table above, to review them

• JM: One quick thing I’ll add, is that a lot of what was just talked about around “where would I go to find out X about DevRel?” Hits very directly with SH direct question in the first reveal of “wouldn’t we just be better served with a wiki?”
