Help with custom stop creation

I want to create a custom stop, but I do not understand how the .ae0 files work. When I try to open them in a binary file viewer or Notepad, they do not appear legible.

Hi,
*.ae0 files are the stops from the original Aeolus on Linux, these are indeed in a binary format. I've extended Aeolus plugin to also accept stops definition in JSON format (you can see them in custom subfolder). *.ae0 and *.json are equivalent - they contain the exact same information. These files are essentially giant lookup tables for various parameters depending on the key (note) being played, which makes it rather difficult to craft manually.

For the custom stops I've made I used the real recorded samples to fit the model parameters (you may find some pieces of python code here that does this). I used SPEAR to extract the harmonics from the samples first.

P.S. Perhaps having a separate tool to edit the pipes definition would be helpful, but so far it's not on my todo list.

Not stupid. The code that reads *.ae0 or *.json is here, once read it can be saved back as JSON (via juce::var here).
What is your use case exactly, perhaps there is a better way to achieve what you want to do?

Do you have any recorded samples for echo gamba stop you want to reproduce? If not, could you start from one of the existing stops that sounds close enough to what you want and EQ it further?

How would you EQ the json file further?

I meant EQing the audio played by the closest stop in a DAW to obtain the sound you want. Then these can be translated back to the stops definitions. Or if you have prerecorded samples (your echo gamba playing different notes) these could be used to fit the model directly.

The difficulty is, when I fitted some sample from this grand orgue organ https://familjenpalo.se/vpo/kalvtrask/ it sounded really squeaky, is there some spesfic setting I have to do in spear?
