Intermittent Redirect Failures in ACS Commons Redirect Manager (v6.6.2)

Hi ACS Commons Team,

Description:

We are seeing intermittent redirect failures when using the ACS Commons Redirect Manager. Occasionally, configured redirects do not trigger, and instead the user is taken to a 404 page. This issue is inconsistent — most of the time redirects work as expected, but occasionally they fail for certain URLs.
Environment details:
• AEM Version: AEM 6.5.21(AMS)
• ACS Commons Version: 6.6.2

Observed behavior:

• Redirects configured in /conf/global/settings/redirects work intermittently.
• When a failure occurs, the redirect is skipped and the request returns a 404.
• The issue is not consistently reproducible, and in the past, when it was consistently reproducible, we did server restarts, which helped resolve the issue.
• Verified that the configuration node and rules are valid and published.

Questions:

1. Is this a known issue in ACS Commons 6.6.2?
2. Has it been addressed in any newer ACS Commons release?
3. Are there any recommended configuration changes or caching considerations to ensure consistent redirect handling?

I appreciate your help in confirming whether this has already been addressed in a recent release or if further investigation is needed.

It's not a known issue. I use Redirect Manager in many projects and haven't seen this behavior.
Redirect Manager is fully deterministic and reproducible. The intermittent behavior may indicate that 404 is coming from elsewhere, like Dispatcher or CDN.

What type of redirect is it ?
How do you test it ? Is it reproducible from curl ?
Do you have CDN in front of AEM ?

It's a good idea to enable debug logging on com.adobe.acs.commons.redirects , it will give you an insight whether the request made i to AEM, and which rule was picked up .
