Describe the solution you would like.

It would be good to know how long processing took, as often when running large datasets, we leave our computers running and come back to it later.

If we knew how long the processing took, then we could more accurately plan our tasks to come back around the time it took last time we processed the dataset.

Plus it's just generally nice to know.

Eg:

An immediate solution is to use the existing time command on UNIX-like OSes. It won't be recorded in the log-file files for future reference but is simple to use...

time topostats -c testing.yaml process
...
topostats -c testing.yaml process  129.17s user 6.31s system 202% cpu 1:06.85 total

Note the caveat in the man time page about some shells (e.g. Bash) also having a time command.
